I have an ubuntu linux pc, and im wondering if it is possible to use it as a web server, to make, and host my own website, if so, where do i start, and what do i need?
For instance, if I have a form on my webpage where people enter in their information “name, address, email, etc”, and Submit the form, how am I as the owner of the webpage able to access the information?
I’ve uploaded an html file to the ‘html’ directory in my hosting account but whenever I try to call the web page in my browser I get a “file not found” error. What do I have to do to get the host to load my html file when my domain is called? Am I missing something here? I’m using DreamWeaver to upload the files. I don’t get this at all and GoDaddy ‘help’ section is not very helpful at all. I’m eager to get my site up and running, can someone give me a hand please? This should be a simple thing but it’s not.
I am having problems getting this to work. Every time I try to upload my site, I get an error telling me the server has timed out. I can’t find any documentation on Yahoo’s site related to their support of Microsoft Expression Web, but I can’t imagine that they provide zero support. Any thoughts or suggestions?
I have heard several families that the husnad works from home doing web hosting or buying domain names - and they seem to be doing VERY WELL. I want to learn more about this type of business so I can work from home most of the time and make good money to support my family…any knowledge on this???
I would like a site designed in Flash. How much space would I need? What is a good provider? How does it work exactly? Do I have to purchase a domain name as well as the actual web space?
my work network is behind a router. im wanting to run a small HTTP server so i can get files from work. What do i need to setup? i have a server/computer that will act as the server while running HFS which is a file serving program. What do i need to setup? i dont have a domain or DNS, my router is a Netgear DG834PN. i setup a DNS on a website and forwarded it to our external IP but it connects to our router. Please help!

I wanna download some files from a web host site but every time i go there and try to download it my download manager saves its web (*.html) page instead of saving the original file. Can someone help me out?
PS : I got two download managers first one is get right and the other one is internet download manager.
ok, I’ve created my own website but currently I don’t have a server to host my website on and I don’t have a domain either. So, I was thinking of using the server of the company I work for. How can I arrange something like that and still keep it my own website? Should I pay them or what? And what are the exact procedures to accomplish something like that?
If a hosting company I use has an email address that I customized for my domain, example blah@blahblah.com, (blahblah.com is my domain for example), can I switch hosting companies to another server and still have all the emails that are in the current email address saved? When I log into my account with blah@blahblah.com right now, it shows an error. I have many emails saved in this email address currently so can I just switch servers but still use the same email and have the emails still saved? Any advise will help so much! Thanks -Eric
