All of the webhosts when signing up, offer transfer of your website from the original host’s servers to their own servers. Does it matter if the original server was Windows based, and can that easily be transfered to a UNIX/Linux based server?
Can anyone give me a little know-how about starting up a website? Perhaps some step-by-step about how to go from knowing nothing about this, to running a website? I think alot of people would benefit from this information besides just myself. I need to know some of the steps that I need to take to register a domain name, and how to host it. Some of the terms I’ve heard associated with this were MySQL and cPanel (I think). Does anyone know what these terms mean? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot!
For instance, if I have a form on my webpage where people enter in their information “name, address, email, etc”, and Submit the form, how am I as the owner of the webpage able to access the information?
Several months ago (it seems after Norton automatically updated its properties), I became unable to connect to the internet while Norton is enabled. What needs to be done to be able to use Norton and the internet at the same time?
I’m expecting my site to become really popular after a while, so I was thinking should I go with Godaddy at first and then make my own server(s)? Or can I just pay Godaddy to host a website even though it’ll have a lot of trafficking. It’ll be a video site, so it’ll need a lot of room. (Users can upload their own videos).
What is it called when you own your server and you send it to another company to host it and use their bandwidth and they pretty much house the servers? And can you give me an example comany
I have uploaded an .swf file to my site and when I embed it into my sites pages it won’t play all the way through, but if I download the .swf file and play it from my computer it plays all the way through. What’s the problem. Please help…
I’ve registerd a domain name with Godaddy and I’m having the website that will be using that domain name hosted elsewhere. The person I’m hosting the website with is telling me i not only have to change the name servers but I also need to change the A record. Why is it necessary to change the A record. I’ve had other people host my sites on their name servers and have never had to change the A record. Could there be any malicious reasoning behind this?
