Does Anyone Agree That Bet Black Entertainment Televison) Is Racist ?
I cant help but feel that if i were to set up a WET (white entertainment televison) id be shoned. And called a racist. The BET are hosting an award show in wich all its guest are black. Its host is black. I dont see a diference in skin colour, but it seems the people of BET do. I do not believe martin luther kings dream included a telivision station dedicated to black entertainment, i think he was leaning toward equality. Anyone agree with me ?

When it comes to TV, having only “predominantly” white TV stations and shows and etc. means the scale has been tipped in your favor for years and years……finally when black people have a channel called BET that does not mean the scale is tipped in our favor, but it does mean that we are slowing becoming equal in that aspect. We are not completely equal yet…….but it is coming. And when it does………..PLEASE DON’T WHINE ABOUT IT! JUST GET OVER IT!

Not even. Robin Thicke performed and he is not Black. I saw lots of White people in the audience. BET is going to show reruns of the award show. I want u to watch it, and then make an educated conclusion.

Because network TV (NBC, ABC, CBS) rarely air shows that reflect the lives of African-Americans (day to day). There already are WET networks (and you don’t have to pay to watch them like you do for BET). Why is it that every time blacks try and do something positive for themselves they’re labeled as racists? How is BET racist? There are no forums on BET that sit around a talk about how superior blacks are or tips on how to stick it to the man so why do you care?
Blacks have had to deal with mainstream media for decades that only appeals to whites but now ONE network that managed to stay successful in appealing to blacks is according to you racist. What about the Networks in Spanish and Arabic? Why are they not included in your criticism? Your one-sightedness is very ignorant.
Is “White Girls Gone Wild” considered to be like BET only dumb white girls who make whores of themselves make it a racist whore show?

I don’t care if I do get thumbs down. People are always accusing Blacks of using the race card, whatever! Why are you complaining about BET when whites have abc, cbs, and nbc. There are hardly any shows on those networks geared towards Blacks, Hispanics or Asians. Oh yeah there is one, which is Ugly Betty which has a few Hispanic people in it and one Black person! Now that’s just sad.
I’ll have you know that Robert Tilton is on at 3:00 a.m. every morning on BET, and he’s about as white as you can get!
It depends; are you saying that the mere existence of BET is racist or are you accusing them of running racist programming? That’s two very different questions.
If it’s the former, I would have to disagree. There are plenty of stations and cable/satellite channels that unintentionally cater to whites.
If it’s the latter, I don’t know; I haven’t watched it.

i totally agree with you. 100 years from now, you will see some black kid on the news crying how his people are being opressed. all that is, is an excuse for being a waste of air. if there were a wet tv show, that only had whites the way bet only has black, you would see people marching in the streets and jessy and sharpton crying for justice.

I don’t want WET. I want BET to be renamed. CMT = Country Music Television. Call BET Hip Hop Entertainment or something. Though the name BET is hypocritical and racially divisive, people would rather protest loudly and daily about a white man using a tasteless phrase I’ve heard a ton of black folks call each other…..it would make too much sense for some of these folks to look in the mirror and protest racially divisive offenses equally.
No I do not agree. Almost every show out on television is run by white people…look at disney channel, if theres a black show on there, it usually light skinned, or mixed people playing the parts of black people, and the rest is for white people. Does it kill you THAT much just to let the black people have their own show? gosh. and look at MTV….do you see many blacks on there? I know I don’t..and the mtv music awards,, the host was white, most of the people there were also white. yes there are some blacks…but overall mtv is mostly white. let the black folks have their own show…geesh.
I totally agree with HolyOne. And if you didnt know, BET is owned by whites. So just to let you know, whites are in charge of a black television channel. If you would like to watch WET go to all those channels like MTW,a&e,TLC,FOX,TCM,LIFE,OXGN, not to say that all races dont watch these channels, but they are owned by white people, and they have basically white cast only shows. So just get over it.! My god.
honey…calm down…read the name carefully..it says BLACK entertainment television. that means you may see more black people than you are used to seeing.
and just to ease your mind…think about why the women’s bathrooms are called the “ladies room”. because many of the beings in that particular room are likely to be ladies - not all of them but a fair share is possible.

98% of television is dominated by white shows and white culture so WET does exist, it’s just not a single show. It’s thousands of shows going on 24 hours a day seven days a week.

I totally disagree. you talked about the BET Awards well for one Robin Thicke was there and he was nominated for not one but two awards. and trust me when i say that he was not the only white person there. They play his videos and Eminem has perform on the BET Awards and they play his videos. Phil Collins was even on BET.
